On Tuesday, Aug. 1 North Arlington will celebrate the 34th Annual National Night Out Against Crime and encourage residents to have a Block Party on that night.
Acting Chief of Police Scott M. Hedenberg of the North Arlington Police Department said as an incentive to organize a block party, the first 10 blocks organized will receive a free BBQ package courtesy of the North Arlington Police Crime Prevention Unit and The Arlington Diner.
North Arlington Police Officers and Elected Officials will visit your block party with giveaways.
Everyone on that evening is encouraged to get outside to meet and greet their neighbors. Residents should also leave a porch light on overnight as a sign of neighborhood spirit and unity against crime.
If you wish to organize a block party please stop by the North Arlington Police Department for an application. The Police Department will seek approval with closing down your street to traffic from 5-9 p.m.
