Mario Karcic was born in Weehawken in 1975 and raised in North Bergen where he played football and volleyball for North Bergen High School. He was also selected to represent his school at the American Legion Jersey Boys State program in 1992. He is a graduate of Bergen Community College and also has attended Caldwell University.
Mario relocated to North Arlington in November 2001 after marrying his wife Jo Ann. Their two daughters Sarah (age 10) and Julia (age 8) attend the North Arlington elementary school system.
Mario started his career in the health insurance industry in 1999, where he started working in Customer Service. In a matter of a couple of years, he was promoted into various positions of leadership where he was accountable for over 500 staff members nationally and internationally, managed a budget of $12 million and was responsible for ensuring delivery of the company’s strategic vision.
In 2014, Mario moved from working for a carrier to becoming a licensed insurance producer. His current focus is helping small employers and school systems manage changes and keeping costs down related to the Affordable Care Act.
Mario began his volunteer work in North Arlington recreation 6 years ago as a head coach for instructional soccer the North Arlington Soccer Association. His coaching career continued with the North Arlington Girls Softball league in 2008. Mario became an Executive Member of the North Arlington Girls Softball League where he has served as the Treasurer since 2011. During the 2015 season, he coached both a Lower and Middle division team.
Starting in 2014, Mario was appointed to the North Arlington Recreation Committee. In this capacity, Mario participates in the planning and execution of recreation committee functions including the Memorial Day Parade, Halloween Trunk or Treat, Concerts in the Park, Movie Day at the Lincoln Cinemas and the Holiday House Decorating Contest.
