Special Angels Recreation and Putting the Pieces Together Support Group is proud to announce their second annual Too Hot to Handle Softball for Autism Challenge. Improvement to Canterbury Avenue Near Completion

The Borough’s improvements to Canterbury Avenue are nearing completion. The borough used community development block grant money to repave the street and rebuild and repair catch basins where needed. Canterbury’s repaving is part of a $471,000 infrastructure improvement plan that includes Hedden Terrace and Morgan Place.

NORTH ARLINGTON GIRL'S SOFTBALL OPENS ANOTHER SEASON

With Councilman James Ferriero throwing out the cermeonial "first" ball, the girl's softball league opened another successful season. Also in attendance were Councilman Al Grannell and Council President Steve Tanelli, who thanked the volunteers who run the league and wished the players, coaches and parents well.

Help Homes Vets

The Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus is asking volunteers to donate professional suits and business casual wear to the Veterans at the Domiciliary at Lyons hospital. The “Dom” is a place for homeless veterans to get back on their feet and into the job market. Clothing should be in good shape. The Q.P. Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus in North Arlington has obtained National Child ID Kits, and in cooperation with the North Arlington Police Department, have distributed the kits to the principals in all North Arlington Schools. These kits provide vital information on a child that can be given to police, prosecutors, FBI, Sheriff’s Offices and other law enforcement personnel in the event a child is kidnapped or is missing. Residents can also pick up a kit at the North Arlington Public Library, or by contacting Grand Knight Robert Tarantula, 201 991-9606. There is no charge for the kit.

Senior Harmony Club

A trip to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse for lunch and to see Charlie Prose in the play “Last of the Red Hot Lovers” is planned for Tuesday, June 25. To reserve a seat or get information, call Ann at 201-939-2960. Those who attend the trips do not have to be members of the club. All are welcome.
