Councilman Albert Granell was elected to the North Arlington Borough Council in 2006 to a three-year term. His term will expire December 31, 2010.

A native of Jersey City, Mr. Granell graduated from Dickinson High School and attended New Jersey University (formerly Jersey City State College).

Councilman Granell moved to North Arlington in 1982 and married his wife Sharon. They have two school-age children, Adam and Alexis. Both attend North Arlington High School. Granell's Father-in-law is the owner of Art Roberts Studio, one of North Arlington's oldest actives businesses.

The Granell's reside on Ridge Road.

An information technology specialist, Granell was formerly employed as a Data Center supervisor for First Jersey National Bank before joining United Parcel Service (UPS) in 1989. During his sixteen year tenure, Granell has worked with various software & hardware vendors to enhance the performance capabilities of the overnight delivery giant.

Councilman Granell was appointed by Mayor Peter Massa as the borough's Redevelopment Liaison as well as liaison the borough's Recreation Commission. Mr. Granell is responsible for having the borough's council meetings and municipal events available for viewing on Comcast Cable.

Granell's wife Sharon was recently elected as a member of the North Arlington Board of Education.
