Councilman Steven Tanelli was elected to the North Arlington Borough Council in the fall of 2004 and was re-elected in 2005 to a three-year
term. Councilman Tanelli was elected Council President by his colleagues in January of 2007.
A native of Union Township, Mr. Tanelli graduated from Union High School and attended Montclair University.
Steve and his wife Sharon moved to North Arlington in 1988 and they have three sons, Brian & Danny who graduated from North Arlington High School and Nicholas who is currently attending NAHS.
A Senior Art Director, Mr. Tanelli is employed with The Movado Group Inc., located in Paramus. Movado is a world leader in the luxury watch industry. Councilman Tanelli's responsibilities include creative design, layout and final product as well as management of his team.
Councilman Tanelli was appointed by Mayor Peter Massa as the borough's Redevelopment Liaison as well as liaison for Public Safety. Councilman Tanelli authored last year's successful municipal referendum that vastly restricted eminent domain seizure. Voters overwhelmingly approved the measure wirh nearly 80% of all votes cast.
An ardent opponent of the Arlington Valley project, Councilman Tanelli is seeking alternative proposals to redevelop our Meadowlands parcels.
A former Recreation Commissioner and Director of Recreation for the borough, Councilman Tanelli has coached in various atthletic programs and played a key role in the construction of the new scoreboard at the North Arlington Little League complex.
