The North Arlington Health Department is reminding all borough pet owners that they are required to license their pets annually and are urged to make sure that they are vaccinated against rabies.

Licensing fees for both dogs and cats are $10 for a spayed/neutered pet; $13 for a non-spayed/neutered pet. Proof of rabies must be valid through the licensing year and presented at time of licensing. Failure to license your pet may result in a summons.

The Bergen County Animal Shelter offers free rabies clinics, by appointment, each month for Bergen County residents. Please call 201-229-4618 or visit their website at http://www.co.bergen.nj.us/bcas for more information.

Rabies is a fatal disease. Unvaccinated domestic animals can contract rabies from wild animals and transmit infection to humans.
