NEW- The Housing Authority of Bergen County (HABC) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the waitlist from income eligible households for 3-bedroom apartments at our Family Developments in Mahwah and Ramsey. The Developments are located at Ramapo Brae Lane in Mahwah and DeSimone Court in Ramsey. Beginning Monday, February 10, 2025, at 9:00 am through Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11:59 pm the HABC will accept applications ONLINE ONLY. HABC will only be accepting applications from 3 people or more households only.
For those who need assistance completing an application, the Housing Authority will make staff available at the HABC Headquarters, 1 Bergen County Plaza, 2nd Floor, Hackensack, NJ 07601. Staff will be made available to assist with the completion of applications from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, Monday, February 10, 2025, through Friday, February 14, 2025. A random selection lottery will be conducted to select 125 applicants to be placed on the wait list for future potential vacancies. The HABC will use a third party to randomly select 125 applicants to be placed on the waiting list. Lottery results will be made available after February 21, 2025. Applicants not selected for initial occupancy will remain on the waiting list for future occupancy.

NEW Rivervale, NJ- Collignon Estates
Welcome to Collignon Estates in River Vale Township, Bergen County, New Jersey. This property will feature a total of 2 family apartments; 2- and 3- bedrooms low, and moderate income units for rent to income-qualified households. A random selection will be held for all preliminary applications received on or before 1:00 PM, February 12th, 2025, after which the waiting list may be closed. There will be a preference for applicants who live and/or work in Housing Region 1 (Bergen, Hudson, Passaic and Sussex Counties).

State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP)
REMINDER: The application will close THIS Friday January 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EST. SRAP pre-applications will be selected through a lottery process, therefore, it does not matter when you submit your pre-application as long as you complete it during the open enrollment period. Every pre-application successfully submitted during the open enrollment period has a chance of being selected during the lottery.
Persons applying must meet all applicable SRAP income and eligibility requirements. A total of 6,000 households will be selected through a lottery system to be placed on the State Rental Assistance Program waiting list. Please note that only New Jersey residents are eligible to apply for SRAP assistance.
DCA has adopted the following preferences for admission to the waiting list: Veterans, Homeless, Elderly, Disabled, Local and Residency Preference. Applicants who qualify for one or more preferences will have priority for selection for placement on the waiting list.

Winter Termination Program
The NJ Department of Community Affairs has implemented a Winter Termination Program to prevent service discontinuation for eligible residential customers receiving residential electric, sewer and water service from a local authority, municipal utility, or rural electric cooperative from November 15th through March 15th.
Service cannot be disconnected during this period to those residential customers who demonstrate at the time of the intended termination that they are: Recipients of HEAP, USF, LIHWAP, Lifeline, SSI, and/or PAAD.

New Jersey's Lead Remediation & Abatement Program might be able to help
The New Jersey Lead Remediation and Abatement program (LRAP), funded by a $180 million federal grant, aims to address this issue by supporting the removal of lead-based hazards from low- to moderate-income households.
Households with incomes at or below 80% of the area median income for the County in which the municipality is situated, residing in one to four family residential properties constructed prior to 1978, are eligible. Tenants, please verify date of construction with landlords and property owners/managers check your deed or title. Thank You.
