Route 17 Northbound Ramps to & from Route 3 Westbound to be Closed Next Week in Bergen County

The Route 17 northbound ramp to Route 3 westbound and the Route 3 westbound ramp to Route 17 northbound are scheduled to be closed and detoured next week for drainage work in Lyndhurst and Rutherford, Bergen County.
Monday, August 4 – Wednesday, August 6
Beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, August 4 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, the Route 17 northbound ramp to Route 3 westbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The closure is necessary to replace corrugated metal drainage pipes with reinforced concrete pipes. If work is completed earlier, the ramp will reopen sooner. The following detour will be in place:
Route 17 northbound to Route 3 westbound Detour:
- Motorists on Route 17 northbound wishing to take the ramp to Route 3 westbound will be directed to continue on Route 17 northbound
- Stay right to take the jughandle/U-turn at Highland Cross
- Turn left onto Route 17 southbound
- Take the ramp to Route 3 westbound
Wednesday, August 6 – Friday, August 9
Beginning at 6 a.m. Wednesday, August 6 until 3 p.m. Friday, August 8, the Route 3 westbound ramp to Route 17 northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The closure is necessary to replace corrugated metal drainage pipes with reinforced concrete pipes. If work is completed earlier, the ramp will reopen sooner. The following detour will be in place:
Route 3 westbound to Route 17 northbound Detour:
- Motorists on Route 3 westbound wishing to take the ramp to Route 17 northbound will be directed to continue on Route 3 westbound
- Take the exit for Riverside Avenue/Lyndhurst/Rutherford
- Turn left onto Ridge Road
- Turn left onto Rutherford Avenue eastbound, which becomes Route 17 northbound
The work is part of a $15.7 million contract that is making stormwater improvements on various roadways in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren counties.
